We Are Loving It!

Austin and I have a new favorite show to watch together in the mornings.

This fall PBS has launched a new show called Sid the Science Kid.

It is really great and I honestly look forward to watching it each morning.

The characters are cute, energetic, curious, playful and cool.

Each show starts with Sid wondering about why or how something happens.

He then presents the question to his hip parents.

The mom always checks the computer for information and the dad who is almost always cooking or feeding the baby (wow!) usually does something creative to spur Sid on.

Sid then takes his idea or question to school. (There are cute little songs and chants as the show transitions from one location to the next.)

He talks to his three friends about the question/problem/idea and then the teacher, Miss Susie (so appropriately named) takes the kids inside and the investigations begin.

The show does a great job of walking through the scientific methods and processes.

The kids observe, hypothesize, test ideas, record everything in their notebooks and then share with their peers and teacher.

The very cool Miss Susie, does fun experiments with them and then comes up with a fun song about the topic that she sings to them.

When the school day is over and the question is answered, his hip grandma picks him and they talk about what he learned.

At home the whole family discusses it over dinner, sometimes demonstrating the idea once again and then Sid goes to his room to get ready for bed.

Once he has his pajamas on he "invents" something fun or cool that goes along with that days theme.

I highly recommend this very cute and highly educational show!

For us it comes on at 8:30 am.

If you want to see when it is on in your area, you can visit their website at:

We love Sid - you did a great job summarizing the show - I'm wondering if the woman who plays the voice of Teacher Susie is a real singer, because her songs are pretty awesome - they could easily make a show soundtrack with that music!

You've got me so curious about this show! My mom watches my daughter during the day, so I'll have to tell her about it. I love pbskids.

i like the show too.

the only thing i don't like is how disproportionate the people are. the kids are almost bigger than the adults lol! but you're right, it's a fantastic show and kids really do learn from it

My daugher and I have watched this before, it was entertaining! I'll think she'll like it a lot more though when she's a little older.
